You have a spa gift voucher: where to begin
A spa voucher is a gift that lands twice. Once when it is unwrapped, and again when you finally lower yourself into a warm tub. The trouble is the gap in between, which has a habit of stretching. The PDF sinks to the bottom of an inbox, the visit gets parked for "when things calm down", and one day you find yourself wondering whether the thing is still valid at all. This guide walks you through the whole journey, from opening the file to resting on a heated straw bed, so the gift becomes an afternoon well spent rather than a nagging reminder in your calendar.
The Lázně Pramen network has been running since 2008, and our Dejvice spa sits at Dejvická 255/18, Prague 6, a two-minute walk from Hradčanská metro station. We are open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 22:00, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 to 23:00. There are four private rooms: three with wooden tubs, where you can take a beer bath or a wine bath, and one salt cave set aside for massages. Every booking is yours alone - you never share the room with strangers.
The first step is disarmingly simple: open the voucher and read it properly, from top to bottom. Everything that matters is printed there. First, the type of voucher - whether it is a value voucher for a set amount or a voucher for a specific treatment. Second, the expiry date, printed on the voucher itself. And third, the voucher code, which you quote when you book or at reception - or we can simply scan the QR code. Before you start choosing a date, it is worth running through this short list:
- Save the PDF somewhere you will find it again, such as cloud storage or your phone.
- Check whether you have a value voucher or one for a particular treatment, as that shapes everything that follows.
- Put the expiry date in your calendar, with a reminder at least a month beforehand.
- Agree plans with whoever is coming with you: one tub takes up to two guests, so three or four of you will need the Golden Spring with its two tubs.
- Decide whether you fancy beer, wine or both at once.
- Book ahead - evening and weekend slots can fill up quickly.
If, reading this, you find yourself wanting to give someone else the same pleasure, our gift voucher page offers both types described in the next section. For now, though, back to your own gift and how to get the most out of it.
Two kinds of voucher and what each means for you
Our gift vouchers come in two forms, and each is redeemed a little differently. Before you start thinking about a particular day, it helps to know which one you are holding. The distinction is more than a technicality: it decides how much is left up to you and how much the giver has already settled. Both arrive as a digital PDF, so you can carry yours around on your phone.
A value voucher gives you the most freedom. You choose both the treatment and the date. That might be a beer bath in a single tub, from €148 per booking, a wine bath from €201 per booking, or perhaps a massage in the salt cave. If your choice costs more than the voucher is worth, you simply pay the difference when you book or on the day. And a value voucher does not have to be spent in one go: if your treatment costs less, the remaining balance stays available until the expiry date.
A voucher for a specific treatment is simpler still. The giver has already decided what you will enjoy - the Two in One bath in the Golden Spring (Zlatý pramen), say, or one of the premium rituals. All that remains is to book a time. No swapping treatments, no working out price differences: just pick the day and time that suit you.
In practice, the differences boil down to this:
- Value voucher: you choose the treatment and the date yourself.
- Voucher for a specific treatment: the treatment is fixed, and you only book the date.
- Both are digital PDFs with the expiry date printed on the voucher itself.
- Prices are always per booking - that is, per room - never per person.
- Anyone who bought a voucher online can withdraw from the purchase within 14 days (terms and conditions, §6).
That last point concerns the giver more than the recipient, but it is worth knowing. The fourteen-day right to withdraw from a distance contract comes from general European consumer law, and our terms and conditions state it explicitly. So if the giver realises they picked the wrong kind of voucher, there is a short window to put it right: they can withdraw via the "Cancel purchase" link in the confirmation email or by writing to info@laznepramen.cz, and the money goes back to the original card. If the voucher has already been partly used, the refund is reduced by the value of the service used. For you, the recipient, what really matters is knowing which voucher you have and booking accordingly.
Voucher validity: where to find it and why not to guess
The key question is: how long is my voucher valid? The answer is simpler than it sounds, though it does ask for a little care. The expiry date is printed on every voucher and is calculated from the date of purchase. What counts, then, is always what appears on your own PDF - not a general rule someone half-remembers from years ago.
Why do we insist on this? Because the validity rules can change over time. A voucher a friend received a while back may have carried a different term from yours. Rely on a hunch, or on somebody else's experience, and the date can quietly slip past you. The only dependable source is the wording on your voucher. If you cannot find it, the PDF will not open properly or you are unsure how to read it, email or call us (all the details are on our contact page) and we will check the validity for you.
Experience has given us a few tips for avoiding the classic scenario of remembering the voucher a week before it runs out:
- As soon as the voucher arrives, put the expiry date into your phone.
- Set two reminders: one about two months before the end, and a second a month later.
- If you are coming as a couple or a group, agree a date well in advance - lining up several diaries always takes longer than expected.
- Weekend evenings can fill up quickly; if you have some flexibility, consider a weekday.
- Do not book for the very last day of validity. Leave yourself room to reschedule if needed.
That last tip ties in with our rescheduling rules, covered at the end of this article. A free change of date is possible at least 48 hours in advance, always subject to availability. With a little breathing space built in, you will not be caught out if illness or work gets in the way.
For completeness: general consumer law in the Czech Republic and across the European Union governs matters such as withdrawing from a distance contract. The specific terms of a voucher, including how long it is valid, are determined by what is printed on it and by the terms and conditions in force at the time of purchase. Which is why it always pays to read the voucher carefully and, if anything is unclear, to ask us directly.
Booking step by step: online, by phone or by email
Once you know what kind of voucher you have and when it expires, it is time to book. There are three equally good routes, and it is simply a matter of which suits you best: online through the booking widget on our website, by phone on +420 728 059 770, or by email at info@laznepramen.cz. Whichever you choose, simply quote the code printed on your voucher. You can also give it at reception, where we can just scan the QR code.
Here is how to go about it:
- Have your voucher code to hand.
- Decide how many of you are coming and whether you want beer, wine or a mix of the two.
- Choose a room to match the number of guests and the treatment - the Ruby Spring (Rubínový pramen) for two, for instance, or the Golden Spring for three or four.
- Pick a date on the booking page, or call or email us.
- Wait for the confirmation email - only that turns your booking into a binding arrangement.
- Save the confirmation alongside the voucher so everything is in one place.
Step five matters more than it might seem. Under our terms and conditions (§3.2), a booking becomes binding the moment our confirmation reaches you by email. Until then it is merely a request. If no confirmation has arrived, check your spam folder and get in touch if need be. The terms (§4.2) also allow us to ask for a deposit or payment in advance, particularly for V.I.P. packages and group bookings.
Planning to use your voucher with colleagues or friends? The bathing rooms can take a maximum of eight guests at once: four in the Golden Spring, two in the Ruby Spring and two in the Emerald Spring (Smaragdový pramen). The salt cave can also be booked for massages at the same time. A group of six would therefore split between the Golden Spring and the Ruby Spring, while a group of eight fills all three bathing rooms. For larger parties, staggered start times are the answer - one group at 17:00, say, and another at 19:00. The bigger the group, the earlier you should get in touch, because taking over the whole house at once needs a free slot in every room at the same time.
What to spend it on: beer, wine or a combination
With a value voucher, the obvious place to start is a classic bath in a wooden tub. The beer bath is built around a genuine craft beer, Petrovické zlato, together with Žatec hops, brewer's yeast and malt. The natural mixture is added to the water right in front of you. The water in the handmade tub is kept at 35-38 °C, close to body temperature, and the tub has a built-in whirlpool. There is a beer tap in the room, so you can pour yourself as much light and dark Petrovické zlato as you like - even from the tub - and there are a few snacks too. One tub takes up to two guests, and prices start at €148 per booking, whether you come alone or as a pair.
The wine bath follows the same format with an entirely different mood. Into the tub go red wine, grape seed extract, vine leaves, honey, herbs and French lavender flowers. A bottle of wine and a plate of fruit and cheese wait for you in the room. A single tub for one or two guests starts at €201 per booking. Both baths are available in the Ruby Spring, the Emerald Spring and the Golden Spring, so choosing a room is largely a question of atmosphere and head count.
The Two in One bath deserves a word of its own. It is only possible in the Golden Spring, the one room where two oak tubs run side by side, so each tub can have its own mixture. With two tubs, the price rises with the number of guests, which is why we always quote it alongside the head count:
- Beer + wine combination: €238 for two guests, €278 for three, €307 for four.
- Two beer tubs: €190 for two guests, €242 for three, €283 for four.
- Two wine tubs: €268 for two guests, €354 for three, €367 for four.
- One beer tub for one or two guests: from €148.
- One wine tub for one or two guests: from €201.
For a couple who simply want a beer bath, then, a single tub from €148 is the best value. Two tubs make sense when each of you wants a different mixture, or when you are coming as three or four. The whole visit lasts 90 minutes in the room: roughly 10 minutes of preparation, 20-30 minutes in the tub and around 50 minutes resting on a heated bed of wheat straw, where the low light and the warm glow of an electric fireplace do much of the work.
Premium rituals, massages and the salt cave
A higher-value voucher, or one made out for a premium ritual, opens the door to the Emerald Spring. This is where every V.I.P. package takes place, always for one or two guests and lasting 150 minutes - two and a half hours. Alongside the larch tub with its whirlpool there is a cedar phyto-sauna, or cedar barrel: a small upright cask of Siberian cedar in which warm herbal steam surrounds your body while your head stays outside. Around fifteen minutes in the barrel makes for a calm, gentle start to the ritual.
- V.I.P. Beer SPA from €293 per booking: cedar phyto-sauna, a 30-minute relaxation massage or body peel, beer bath and rest. Unlimited light and dark Petrovické zlato on tap, with snacks.
- V.I.P. Wine SPA from €326 per booking: the same structure with a wine bath, plus a bottle of wine and a plate of fruit and cheese.
- Delux Wine SPA from €326, for one guest only: cedar phyto-sauna, a 20-minute wine peel, a 40-minute wine wrap, a 40-minute full-body massage with grape seed oil, and rest by the fireplace with a glass of wine and a cheese plate. It is the only package that includes a bathrobe.
If you would rather spend the voucher on loosening tight muscles than on a soak, there is the Sapphire Spring (Safírový pramen), a salt cave lined with ten tonnes of salt of three kinds: rock salt, Dead Sea salt and Himalayan salt. There is no tub here; instead, a massage table and salt lamps. The 30-minute relaxation massage concentrates on the back, neck and shoulders and costs from €33. The 60-minute relaxation massage covers the whole body and starts at €50. A 60-minute sports massage, with deeper muscle work, begins at €75.
The salt cave has a single massage table. If you come as a pair, the massages take place one after the other, and whoever is waiting relaxes in a comfortable armchair in the cave itself. Besides massage, we also offer pressotherapy lymphatic drainage (45 minutes, from €23) and mud or peat wraps, priced on request. These two services are booked by phone and paid on site - online booking is not yet available for them - and lymphatic drainage cannot be combined with a bath in the same visit. If you would like to use your voucher for either, please ask us by phone in advance.
On the day: arriving, the visit itself and afterwards
The booking is confirmed, the voucher is saved on your phone and the day has arrived. The single most useful piece of advice: turn up 10-15 minutes before your booking starts. It gives you time to be welcomed without a rush, put your things away and settle in. Under our terms and conditions (§7), if you are more than 15 minutes late, the booking may be shortened or cancelled without a refund. Hradčanská metro is a two-minute walk away, so even on public transport it is easy to build in some slack.
So how does a classic beer bath or wine bath unfold in a room such as the Ruby Spring? The full 90 minutes fall naturally into three stages:
- Preparation, about 10 minutes: the natural mixture goes into the water in front of you, and we explain everything you need to know.
- The bath, usually around 20 minutes, or up to 30 if you prefer, in water at 35-38 °C with the whirlpool running.
- Rest, roughly 50 minutes on a heated wheat-straw bed in soft light, by the warm glow of an electric fireplace.
- Throughout, there is beer on tap - or, with the wine bath, a bottle of wine with a plate of fruit and cheese.
You climb into the tub over its rim using a wooden step. If you have any questions about access to the room, call us on +420 728 059 770 before booking.
One more tip: every room has a shower, but after a beer bath we recommend not rinsing the mixture off for around two hours. Your skin will stay noticeably smoother for a day or two afterwards. So plan something gentle for the rest of the day - not a trip straight to the gym.
At reception you can buy our own range of beer cosmetics, which we make ourselves. There are five products: beer shampoo, hair conditioner, body peel, body scrub and bath salt - so the care for your hair and skin can carry on at home. If the bath wins you over, it is a natural way to stretch the experience a little further, or an idea for your next gift to someone close.
Cancellations, rescheduling and common questions
Life does not always bend to the calendar, so it is worth knowing the rules in advance. Under our terms and conditions (§5), cancelling more than 48 hours before your booking is free, with a full refund. Cancelling 24-48 hours ahead is charged at 50% of the price. Cancelling less than 24 hours ahead, or not turning up, is charged at 100%. Moving to a different date is free if you ask at least 48 hours in advance, always subject to availability. An email or a phone call is all it takes. The terms and conditions in force when your booking was confirmed always apply.
For voucher holders, the lesson is simple. If you suspect your plans might change, let us know in good time. Two days' notice leaves room for a free change of date and a fair chance of finding a new date that still falls within the voucher's validity. That is exactly why we advise against booking on the last valid day.
Common questions about redeeming a voucher:
- Do I need to print the voucher? No. The voucher is a digital PDF: when you book, the code is all we need, and at reception we can scan the QR code straight from your phone screen.
- How long is the voucher valid? The expiry date is printed on your voucher and counts from the date of purchase. We do not quote a general rule, because it can change over time.
- Can I change the treatment? With a value voucher, you choose the treatment yourself. With a voucher for a specific treatment, you book the date; for anything else, use our contact page.
- How many of us can come? One tub takes up to two guests, the Golden Spring up to four, and the bathing rooms hold a maximum of eight guests at once.
- Can I use the voucher for a premium ritual? Yes - the V.I.P. packages take place in the Emerald Spring, for one or two guests.
- What if I arrive late? If you are more than 15 minutes late, the booking may be shortened or cancelled without a refund.
You will find a list of the health conditions under which we advise against our treatments in section 9 of our terms and conditions. Beyond that, only the pleasant part remains: choosing your date. The full menu is on our treatments page, and there is more inspiration on our blog. A gift like yours deserves to be enjoyed slowly, in warm water and without watching the clock - and that is what we aim for at every visit.
