What is actually behind the words “VIP evening”

Lázně Pramen Dejvická sits in an underground space with original brick vaults, two minutes on foot from Hradčanská metro. No lobby, no clipboards at reception – after a short greeting you walk straight into your private suite, and the next two-and-a-half to three hours belong only to the two of you.

There are four suites and each one is a little different. The most intimate is Rubínový pramen (Ruby Spring, from €129). Zlatý pramen (Golden Spring, from €165) has two oak tubs and fits two to four people. Safírový pramen (Sapphire Spring) is a salt cave with ten tonnes of salt – there is no tub there. The only suite that runs the full V.I.P. script is Smaragdový pramen (Emerald Spring): a cedar phyto-barrel, a larch tub with whirlpool and a fireplace in one room. Overview on the private suites page.

What makes the V.I.P. script different from a stand-alone bath? It is not about getting more beer. It is about a sequence: the cedar steam opens you up, the massage takes the working week off your shoulders, the bath drops you into hot water – and only then comes the longest part, fifty minutes on a wheat-straw bed by the fireplace, when you are not in a hurry anywhere.

Three V.I.P. packages – which one is yours

In Smaragdový pramen we run three V.I.P. variants, all priced per suite (not per person). Real numbers and durations:

  • V.I.P. Beer SPA – from €293, 1–2 guests, 2.5–3 hours. Cedar phyto-barrel (15 min) → relaxation massage or body scrub (30 min) → beer bath in a wooden tub with whirlpool → rest on the wheat-straw bed by the fireplace. Unlimited light and dark beer with snacks included.
  • V.I.P. Wine SPA – from €326, 1–2 guests, 2.5–3 hours. Same shape, but a wine bath instead of beer, plus a bottle of wine and a fruit and cheese platter.
  • Delux Wine SPA – from €326, 1 guest, 2.5 hours. The full wine ritual: cedar phyto-barrel, wine peel (20 min), wine wrap (40 min), full-body massage with grape-seed oil (40 min) and rest by the fireplace with a glass of wine and cheese. The only package that includes a bathrobe.

If a full V.I.P. is not what you want and you just want a quiet evening for two, a stand-alone beer bath in Rubínový starts at €129 and the wine bath at €183. Live availability on the booking page.

Cedar phyto-barrel: the 15 minutes that open the evening

This is not a Finnish sauna where you sit fully inside the steam. The phyto-barrel is a small Siberian-cedar cabinet you sit inside with your body only – your head stays outside. The steam comes from herbal infusions, so instead of dry heat in your face you breathe normal cool air while the rest of you is wrapped in moist herbal vapour.

For the body it is an ideal way to start. Pores open, circulation lifts, the skin gets ready to absorb the bath extracts, and the day-mode quietly fades. Fifteen minutes is not a therapeutic dose – it is a warm-up that sets the stage for the massage and the bath.

If you want pure salt and steam without a tub, our Safírový pramen (Sapphire Spring) is a real salt cave instead. Halotherapy (breathing salt aerosol) has moderate evidence for respiratory conditions – see a review on PMC. It is a different format though: massage and salt environment, no bath.

Massage or body scrub: 30 minutes shaped around you

After the phyto-barrel comes a 30-minute slot. With V.I.P. Beer / Wine SPA you choose between two things:

  • Relaxation massage – the classic Czech relax style on back, neck and shoulders. Not deep-tissue sports work; the softer kind that takes a working week out of the trapezius and neck. Couples often pick one of each so they can compare notes.
  • Body scrub – gentle mechanical exfoliation, usually finished with hydration. After a scrub the skin sits smoother and absorbs the bath extracts more readily.

In Delux Wine SPA the block is richer: a 20-minute wine peel, a 40-minute wine wrap (we wrap you in cloth soaked in wine extracts) and only then a 40-minute full-body massage with grape-seed oil. The full wine ritual end-to-end. If you like massage but want a more involved version, Delux is the answer.

Hands, quiet voice, no TV in the background. International overviews from Mayo Clinic confirm that regular massage lowers stress, improves sleep and gives short-term relief from muscle tension. With the warm water that comes next it is a strong combination.

Beer or wine bath: 20 minutes you remember for a long time

The headline procedure is shorter than most guests expect: 20 minutes in the water. The tub is hand-built from larch (Smaragdový, Rubínový) or oak (Zlatý), water at 35–38 °C, the whirlpool kicks in automatically during the session. The beer tap right next to the tub is exactly where you think it is.

A beer bath contains dark craft beer, Žatec hops, malt and brewer's yeast. Hops relax the muscles, yeast and B-vitamins feed the skin. A PMC review covers the pharmacology of hops, including sedative effects via the GABA system.

A wine bath contains red wine, grape-seed extract, vine leaf, honey, herbs and French lavender flowers. Resveratrol and polyphenols have well-documented antioxidant activity (review in MDPI Molecules, 2022). If you want both in the same evening, our beer + wine combo in Zlatý pramen is the only place where one tub can be filled with beer and the other with wine at the same time.

20 minutes of warm water 1–2 hours before sleep is also linked in a Sleep Medicine Reviews meta-analysis (Haghayegh, 2019) to faster sleep onset and better sleep quality. A nice side-effect of the evening.

Fifty minutes on the wheat-straw bed: the longest part of the night

You step out of the tub straight onto a fresh wheat-straw bed. The straw cradles you gently, holds heat, smells faintly sweet and lets the leftover warmth leave the body slowly. The bath has set things in motion; this part lets it finish, while the active substances stay in contact with the skin.

Now the package content shows up: with the beer variants unlimited light and dark beer with snacks, with the wine bath a bottle of wine and a fruit and cheese platter, with Delux a glass of wine and a small cheese tartlet. The fireplace is electric – no smoke, no smell – mostly a soft visual bookmark for the end of the ritual.

Fifty minutes sounds long; it goes by faster than you expect. Half of the conversations of the evening happen here. And a request – do not schedule a meeting or a call right after. You cannot pay for the procedure, walk into a meeting and pretend nothing happened, the nervous system stays gently re-routed for an hour or two.

Yes to the shower, no to scrubbing everything off

Every suite has a shower. After the straw bed do take a short, warm shower – you are warmed through. But here is the one specific recommendation we keep repeating: do not try to soap off all the beer or wine extract.

Lázně Pramen actively suggests leaving the rest of the active substances on the skin for roughly two hours after the procedure. The skin then stays noticeably smoother and more saturated for the next day or two. It is the last step people often forget, but it makes a real difference.

You will see for yourself – run a hand along your forearm on the way home. You can skip the body lotion for the next four days.

How to book and when a gift voucher fits

V.I.P. packages are most often booked for anniversaries, birthdays and as a corporate gift for key team members. Book 3–7 days ahead, more for weekends and December. Pick a slot on the booking page.

If you are giving the experience as a gift, our gift vouchers are valid for 12 months. The recipient picks the date and the variant (Beer / Wine / Delux). The voucher is digital, so it can be sent on the morning of the birthday even if the gift box never made it under the tree.

We are open Mon–Fri 10:00–22:00, Sat–Sun 10:00–23:00. Address: Dejvická 255/18, Prague 6, two minutes from Hradčanská metro. For specific requests (allergies, anniversary, flowers in the suite, birthday surprise) write to contact in advance – we will arrange it.
