The Salt Cave: Where Your Massage Takes Place
A massage at Lázně Pramen is not a table in a hallway or a white-walled treatment room. The procedure takes place in a private salt cave lined with three types of natural salt: pink Himalayan, Dead Sea salt, and Polish mine salt. You are in complete privacy – just you and the massage therapist.
The cave's microclimate acts as an amplifier: salt aerosols clear your airways, while soft warm lighting and silence bring a state of deep calm even before the first touch. According to halotherapy research, inhaling salt aerosols improves lung function and reduces mucosal inflammation – combined with massage, the relaxation effect is intensified.
Only natural oils without synthetic additives are used. Fresh sheets and towels, full disinfection of the table before each guest. Learn more about the atmosphere and equipment on the massage page.
Three Types of Massage: From Relaxation to Sports
Lázně Pramen offers three types of massage – each designed for a different purpose:
Relaxation back and neck massage (30 min) – from €33. Gentle, flowing strokes along the back and neck area. Relieves tension from sedentary work, improves blood circulation, and helps manage stress. The most popular option – especially as a complement to a beer or wine bath.
Full body relaxation massage (60 min) – from €50. Complete treatment: back, neck, arms, legs, feet. Swedish massage technique with natural oils. Deep muscle relaxation, a full-body reboot. Ideal for those who want the maximum from their visit.
Sports massage (60 min) – €75. Intensive work for active people. Kneading, friction, targeted work on problem areas. Eliminates fatigue and stiffness, accelerates post-workout recovery, and increases flexibility. Not relaxing – functional.
Why Massage Is Done Before the Bath
At Lázně Pramen, massage is performed before the beer or wine bath – and this is deliberate. Massage warms the muscles, dilates blood vessels, and speeds up circulation. When you then immerse yourself in a bath with hops, malt, and brewer's yeast (or grape polyphenols and lavender), your skin is already prepared – active ingredients are absorbed more effectively.
A study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that massage reduces cortisol levels by 31% while simultaneously increasing serotonin (+28%) and dopamine (+31%). This means that by the time you enter the bath, you are already in a state of deep relaxation – and the entire experience feels completely different compared to without preparation.
Massage must be booked in advance during reservation – it cannot be added on the day of your visit, as the therapist's schedule is planned ahead.

What Happens to Your Body: The Science
Massage is not just "pleasant." Here is what the research says:
Cortisol and stress. A meta-analysis in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine (60 studies): massage reduces cortisol by an average of 31%, increases serotonin by 28%, and dopamine by 31%. A direct biochemical effect, not a subjective sensation.
Blood circulation and lymph. According to the AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association), massage stimulates blood and lymph circulation, speeds up the removal of toxins and metabolic waste, and reduces swelling.
Muscles and recovery. A study in Science Translational Medicine showed that massage after physical exertion reduces inflammation in muscles at the cellular level – acting similarly to anti-inflammatory drugs but without side effects.
Sleep. According to Mayo Clinic, massage improves sleep quality, reduces anxiety, and helps with tension headaches.
How to Prepare and What to Know
Before the massage. Do not eat a heavy meal within an hour of the procedure. Inform the therapist about allergies, injuries, or problem areas – they will adjust the technique and intensity individually.
Sequence. Massage → phytosauna → bath → rest on the bed. In this exact order, the body gets the maximum benefit: muscle warm-up, pore cleansing, absorption of active ingredients, deep rest.
Booking. Massage is added during booking – it cannot be added on the day of your visit. If you choose a V.I.P. package, the massage is already included.
Gift. Massage + bath is one of the most popular gift voucher options. You can give a standalone massage or a complete V.I.P. package.
